Arete Award

The Baez Law Firm is committed to giving back to the community. The firm's efforts were recognized in 2008, when Mr. Baez won the 2008 Arete Award from St. Thomas University School of Law. Arete (ah-rey-TAY) is the Greek word for goodness, excellence and character of virtue. The Arete Award, sponsored by the St. Thomas University School of Law, honors it's Alumni who have demonstrated their commitment to service and justice through volunteer service, especially with the poor and marginalized.

Project Paola

In December 2007, the firm completed "Project Paola." This was a project very close and dear to Mr. Baez's heart. Paola Andrea Mosquera was a young child born with a birth defect that precluded her from ever walking. Paola's family is extremely poor and lives in a dirt shack in Ponedera Colombia. They could only dream of paying for an operation and prosthetic legs. The Baez Law firm paid for the operation and with the assistance of a wonderful organization called "a leg to stand on," we jointly were able to give this child her lifelong dream of being able to stand up right and take her first steps in life. Annual Holiday Toy Drive

The Baez Law Firm has an annual toy drive. For the last several years, our firm in it's commitment to the community has held an annual Holiday toy drive to buy and deliver to children whose parents are incarcerated toys to help make a better Christmas for them. Many times our Justice system forgets the families of the people they incarcerate.
